Millie uniquely uses the pastel medium to portray everyday objects in a new light. Playing lights against shadows and layering color over color she is able to give a three dimensional look and feel to her paintings. By patiently building up layers of pastels she develops the rich textures and colors. She hopes that each new exploration into color and light will give the viewer a deeper understanding of her subjects. ÒThe time I spend in my studio is a journey of understanding and feeling. When the painting conveys my involvement to the viewer I know those hours were well spent.Ó
